Sketching

" There’s no such thing called talent, what they call talent is nothing but the capacity for doing continuous hard work - in the right way." - Winslow Homer.

Class details

Sketching is the base of all painting, it is not necessary to use only a pencil, any thing which makes a mark can be used to sketch. Direct sketching with brushes and watery paints can also be done.

Normally, different grades of pencils and paper are used as they are easy to carry and corrections are possible.

The basic course of ten classes will help the student to get acquainted with:

  • The different types of pencils which can be used for various effects.
  • Tonal values and importance of arial and linear perspectives in drawing.
  • Types of paper and their uses
  • Use of erasers and other tools to enhance drawings.
  • how to draw.

You must remember to keep pencils in proper shape. the darker softer pencils are usually kept blunt to help in spreading the shadow areas quickly. Keep the main sketching pencil sharp to get fine lines.

The preliminary sketch should be drawn as lightly as possible, to prevent unsightly corrections which may be necessary.

A simple landscape or still life will be done on different types of paper by students which will help in assessing their capabilities.
